A couple of months ago, I heard the cutest little story. It went something like this…a mom and her adorable little boy, about 6 years old, went to pick up a few craft supplies at a local fabric and craft store. At different points of the visit, the little boy would ask his mom for a horse and angry birds resin. The mom, while very distracted, repeatedly told the little guy no and to please return the resins to the place he found them. A couple of minutes later, the little boy proceeded to ask the mom, yet again, if he could please have these resins. Once again, the mom said no.
To make a long story short the little boy continued to ask for these resins and the mom continued to say no and not this time and please put them back. Well…you can see where this is going right?!? After some time, the mom concluded her shopping and the little boy and mom headed home. Upon arrival to their home, the little boy, with great big tears building up in his big and vibrant blue eyes, pulled the horse and angry birds resin out of his pocket and with a very sad and disappointed voice said, “Look mom, I didn’t make a very good choice.” With a heavy heart the mom looked down at the little guy and after a lengthy hug the discussion about the decision he had made and the consequences that were sure to follow began.
A couple of days following this incident, the mom and the little boy returned to the craft store and with a little hesitation in his step, the boy returned the resins to the owner and the store manager, apologized for his decision, asked for forgiveness and promised to never let it happen again. So why the story? I thought this little guy was incredibly brave for admitting his poor choice and then turning this wrong into a right and simply, that it had to do with resins!
Resins are very popular right now and so much fun for all! However, saying resins are fun to craft with is an understatement! Resins are way, WAY fun to craft with because they are ready to go when you are. The hardest part about resins is picking out the one you want. You can add these fun embellishments to bows, drawer handles or knobs, clothing, backpacks and so much more. The possibilities are endless with these little accessorizing beauties and today I am going to show you how much fun I had creating unique, fun and summery hair accessories for my sweet little model, all in about 10 minutes.
Like I mentioned above, the hardest part about this quick and easy project was deciding what resins I wanted to couple together to make one of a kind bobby pins and clips. You don’t have to combine them at all, of course you could always use just one, or you could always use more than two. The fun part about these hair accessories is that they are all yours and unique to your own personality and tastes.
Warm up your glue guns, because we are going to do some quick hot gluing and that is IT!
Choose your favorite resins and glue them together. Be careful…the glue is hot!
On the bobby pin below, I used a Pink Monkey and hot glued a French Pink Polka Dot Bow onto her forehead.
This cute and sassy bobby pin was made with a Pink High Heel with a Black Polka Dot Bow hot glued to the top of it.
Once your glue has dried and the resins secure, hot glue your resins to your bobby pins.
I wanted to get really creative and showcase a few more fun and blingy embellishments and chose a Neon Green Sequin Bow with a friendly Citrus Pink Flower resin centered on the top. Cute and so fun!
This combination is one of my favorites. I love the bright summery colors!
This last clip is my favorite! I love lady bugs and the color red so this little clip was destined to be the front runner in my book. This clip really adds personality and a touch of flair. This clip would look stunning next to a ponytail, messy bun or simply holding back your bangs.
To make this clip I used a Glitter Bow in Zebra with a cute Lady Bug resin hot glued on top. So cute, right?!?
Once your glue has dried and resins secure, hot glue sequin bow and glitter bow to clips.
And that’s it…with a little bit of hot glue, your favorite resins, some bobby pins and a couple of snap clips, you have the cutest resin bobby pins and clips around. There are so many possibilities and looks you can achieve with resins and coupling them with other fun accessories and embellishments.
Have you worked with resins before? What is your favorite resin project?
